Facemask impacts are typically the lowest performing impact location in helmet tests. Yet, studies report nearly 50% of impacts to a football player's head are to the facemask and the NFL reports more than 40% of in-game concussions result from facemask impacts. Helmet shell add-on's don't help because they protect the shell and not the facemask. Helmets have a blindspot.

Chinstraps have always just existed to hold a helmet onto the head, but no longer. High speed video analysis of hundreds of helmet tests reveals that face mask impacts engage the chinstrap, pulling on the chinstrap and chin. Meaning, a shock absorber placed at the base of the chin could absorb all that face mask impact energy, keeping it away from the athlete's head.

Our engineers invented the FLEX SoftShox Chinstrap. With a SoftShox hydraulic pad at the base of the chin to absorb the impact energy and a window so athletes can see the pad at work. We worked closely with athletes to ensure performance without compromise.
